Millions Face Eviction as the CDC Moratorium Expires at the End of June

With the CDC eviction moratorium first extended through March then the end of June 2021, we have taken multiple actions to keep people in their homes. This includes a series of demand letters sent to public officials such as Governor Tony Evers, Mayor Tom Barrett, the Milwaukee Common Council, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, and even President Joseph Biden.

We’ve also advocated for tenants through direct action, even escalating to pickets of landlords demanding that they work with renters to stay in their homes.

We continue the fight to stop evictions, including to extend the eviction moratorium, cancel rent and mortgages, support right to counsel legislation, and more. If you’d like to learn more about getting involved with the housing movement and fighting back, contact us today.
