We are sick of Berrada Properties treating the people of Milwaukee as subhuman. The way he makes people live is cruel and unjust, and the people who are supposed to do something about it are working with him! The city of Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin has been completely ineffective in handling the pest problem known as Slumlord Joe Berrada. Despite the state’s lawsuit against him, his team of lawyers have the state attorney strung out until next Summer!
That is why we have to organize as a community against exploitation at the hands of landlords. Tenants of Berrada put up with pests, illegal lease provisions, poor customer service, shoddy maintenance work, renovictions, and more! We have to be the ones to hold him accountable through mass pressure. That is why the Milwaukee Autonomous Tenants Union has devised the Beat Back Berrada campaign. After finding out he is raising rents across the board while his company’s service continues to decline, we want to say, “Enough is enough.” Our goal with this campaign is to put a stop to his rent increase, improve his company’s service, and most importantly, connect tenants to one another in order to continue the fight for just housing. There is no reason we can’t have safe, secure, clean, affordable housing in the city of Milwaukee.
